ARK Consulting worked with a Regulator in NSW to establish a framework for prioritising assurance of regulated organisations. The team reviewed and mapped out the existing processes and considerations used to plan assurance activities and then develop a risk and assurance model for evaluating organisations. The model was based on organisational maturity, current levels of compliance and risk exposure to assist in the prioritisation of future assurance activity.

ARK Consulting developed a bespoke Safety Management System for a client looking to expand their Australian operation. The system we developed allowed the client to comply with WHS and Rail Safety National Law legislation as well as contract-specific obligations in several Australian States. This project involved consultation with the team to identify the business’s risks and current work practices. The resulting Safety Management System allows the business to manage their risks and to demonstrate its approach to safety management to current and prospective customers.

ARK Consulting has recently been engaged by a NSW Regulator to produce industry-specific guidelines for fatigue management. These guidelines will provide the taxi and rideshare industry with guidance on how to meet legislative requirements. The guidelines consider the varying needs of the industry and communicate complex regulatory requirements in a simple and accessible format.

ARK developed processes and templates for the management of investigations conducted by the regulator. Additionally, ARK produced a procedure for risk prioritisation for the audit/investigation of point-to-point service providers. These process documents incorporated elements from industry standards on transport as well as the governing legislation.

ARK Consulting was engaged by a NSW Government organisation to review the processes the organisation had to manage health and safety risk as part of the procurement and contractor management process. This project required extensive interviews and workshops with stakeholders to understand the current processes and the review of existing documented procedures to identify potential areas for improvement. The client was provided with a detailed report identifying aspects of the current process that could be improved, recommendations to address the findings and priority areas for action.

Our team have experience in supporting organisations to meet their duties under the Rail Safety National Law. This includes establishing Safety Management Systems, establishing and reviewing Rail Safety Interface Agreements between accredited parties and the audit of accredited parties to ensure that they continue to effectively manage risk and meet their legislative obligations.

Working with an Accredited Rail Transport Organisation ARK Consulting assisted the business in implementing a Rolling Stock Acceptance process to allow Rail vehicles onto sections of railway under the organisation’s management and control. This included a review of legislative requirements, facilitating engagement with the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator and development and revision of the organisation’s management systems.
